My Horse University

My Horse University (MHU) was established in 2005 at Michigan State University, the pioneer land-grant university with nationally ranked programs in equine science and management. MHU brings research and knowledge from world-renowned experts to online courses and products. MHU’s courses provide a comprehensive and convenient learning experience for horse enthusiasts throughout the world.

What We Offer

MHU was created through a partnership between MSU Extension, the MSU Department of Animal Science, and MSU Global. These roots have branched to include the best of MSU’s equine researchers and practitioners as well as national experts through a partnership with eXtension. MHU provides premier learning experiences in an online format that’s flexible in order to meet your needs. We offer science-based research and information in all of our courses and products.

  • Online Courses – The program allows you to create your own learning experience by choosing from a variety of courses developed by a national network of experts. Using the self-paced courses, you control the location, timing, pace, sequence and level of participation. You’ll be able to check your mastery of courses and use the learning activities to apply what you learn directly to your own equine situation. Courses cover a variety of topics, including purchasing and owning a horse, horse breeding and selection, trail riding, nutrition, and horse behavior & welfare.
  • Monthly Newsletter FREE – We offer an online newsletter along with eXtension.org/horses with articles, tips from experts, and information on courses and webcasts.
  • Online Webcasts FREE – We offer free live monthly webcasts along with eXtension.org/horses from September through May. All webcasts are recorded and we offer a library of over 60 recorded webcasts which are available for on-demand viewing on topics such as behavior, nutrition, manure management, showing, facility management, health and much more.
