Dr. Jenifer Nadeau is an Associate Professor and the Equine Extension Specialist for the University of Connecticut. She has worked for UConn since 2001, and grew up riding and working with horses including trail, hunter/jumper, draft, and race horses. She rides both English and Western. Her research focuses on equine health; she teaches horse science for undergraduates and works in extension outreach with adult horse owners and 4-H horse project members. She is a native of Schenectady, New York. She graduated from the State University of New York at Morrisville College in 1993 with an Associate’s in Applied Science degree and received her Bachelor’s of Science in 1995 in Animal Science – Equine Option from the University of Kentucky. She received her Master’s degree in Comparative and Experimental Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and her PhD. in Animal Science in August 2001 also from the University of Tennessee. She loves working with youth and teaching them best management practices and watching them blossom into knowledgeable adults. Jenifer is Vice President of the American Youth Horse Council, a member of the Equine Science Society Symposium, and Outgoing Chair of the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup and Superintendent of the Horse Bowl Committee. Jenifer enjoys trail riding with her students in the UCONN Forest. She also loves hiking and camping with her boyfriend Dave, and their dogs Bruno and Goldie.  One of her goals is to ride an equine in every National Park that offers trail rides!
