Welcome to the Horse Adult Leader Training and Educational Resource (HALTER) Level Two! This course is part of a four course series for adult volunteers working with youth in the horse industry or anyone that wants to learn more about equine science and how to use this knowledge in youth programs to foster positive youth development. These courses can be taken in any order, based on your background knowledge and areas of interest.
Once you have successfully completed the lessons, and their associated requirements, you will receive a certificate of completion. Learning Objectives
Objectives of this lesson includes:
- Develop techniques for safe horse handling
- Learn basic horse care and management
- Identify and foster positive youth development using the horse as a learning tool
HALTER Level Two Requirements
A certificate of completion is awarded to learners who complete the following lesson sub-sections and achieve an 80% proficiency on each assessment/quiz.
- Basics of Feeding Horses
- Routine Health Care
- Body Condition Scoring
- Basic Youth Development
